Mercuri Urval announces 2021 results and key milestones

2021 was an exceptional breakthrough year for Mercuri Urval. We continued to enhance our clients´ success through effective and accurate selection of leaders. Our strategy to strengthen the leadership capabilities of our clients through Reliable Leadership Advice™ has been validated, by extraordinary high client demand. Our large success has not only resulted in an exceptional operational year but has also laid a foundation for delivering ever better employee and client experiences in the future.

Key achievements of 2021

  • Sustained strong growth in Leader Acquisition and Executive Search as our largest client service (47% of revenues). Sharply increasing consultant performance levels, client value and number of services performed at leader level.
  • Successfully upgraded and launched our pioneering MU Leadership Assessment (MU LA), increasing client value across our Science-based Executive Search and Leadership Advisory Services.
  • Doubled our collaborative international business compared to 2020, as clients took advantage of our global reach and extensive industry practice expertise worldwide.
  • Established the Mercuri Urval Research Institute as a separate body for 2022, further increasing the efforts to maintain and develop the scientific basis of our client work.
  • Our R&D department introduced significant upgrades to our services, laying foundations for further high value additions to our experts´ tools and methods in 2022 and 2023.

Financially we achieved:

  • EBITDA amounted to a record high 15,4 MEUR, a margin of 21,5%.
  • Consistent growth and financial performance across all group locations.
  • A net cash balance of 27 MEUR at year end, equalling 38% of net income, as well as being free of net debt.
  • The possibility to continue to invest in our people and our product offerings to secure long term competitiveness, due to strong cash generation and balance.
  • An adapted office footprint to modern ways of working – serving our clients´ needs and reducing support costs.
