In these turbulent times, resilient, adaptable and sustainable business models and modes of governance have proven more valuable than ever.
At Mercuri Urval (MU), we are proud to have a set-up just like that. In fact, it even forms a cornerstone of our Employee Value Proposition (EVP) that we call Built to Last. But what does this actually mean, and why does it matter to us who work at MU?
'Working at MU' series
In the Working at MU article series, we will introduce you to how our EVP forms an underlying part of our Client Value Proposition. First out is Built to Last.
Built to Last | Industry Leading Success Rate | For the Extraordinary | Opportunities without Limits
Foundation-owned and forever independent
MU is owned by a Foundation based in Sweden, Stiftelsen Mercuri Urval, with the sole purpose of ensuring that we will forever be independent, cannot be sold and exist forever. This means our focus is differently balanced between long-term and short-term from most traditional firms. It means creating sustainable and long-term value in the market, rather than quick wins. Naturally, our Leaders are also looking into sound business management for this and the next quarter, but all actions should support long-term strength for us and long-term value-creation for our clients.
For MU colleagues, Built to Last means having a stable and long-term employer in all weathers and conditions.
Invest in the Future
Our Foundation owned set up and our long-term focus has enabled us to remain financially strong over business cycles. Being built to last is also about ensuring the right client services for the future and a future proof infrastructure. That is why a significant proportion of our results are re-invested in R&D and innovation, as well as the MU Research Institute. This ensures we are perpetual pioneers in Leadership Advice.
For MU colleagues, Built to Last means they can offer clients updated and future proof services, based on science, in a modern infrastructure.
Sustainable Business Management and Governance
For 4 years in a row, MU has been awarded Sweden’s best managed company award. This does not mean everything is perfect, no company is, but that there is strong focus on professional management, good governance and that we create strong results in line with a clear strategy. It also means taking clear ownership of quality, cyber security and regulatory requirements. The award, albeit celebrated, is actually no big surprise. Every management team of MU, now or in the future, must follow and uphold the statutes of our Foundation and these put a strong focus on ethical business and good governance. And the Foundation Board works with ensuring those statutes are lived by and honoured.
For MU colleagues, Built to Last means they represent good business ethics, regulatory compliance and professionalism towards their clients.
