Klaveness Dry Bulk  is a leading digital operator and pool manager in the dry bulk market operating from offices in Oslo, Singapore, Dubai, Manila, and Japan. Our commercial operations team is now looking for a Ship Operations Manager in our office in Oslo. The commercial operations team offers global support to our business units and trading strategies. You will be executing commercial voyage operations, offering global support to our customers, business units and trading strategies.  The position reports to Head of Dry Bulk Operations. 


Core tasks and responsibilities:

  • Full independent commercial voyage operations (12-15 vessels) – incl. but not limited to:
    • P&L management and optimization initiatives on voyages
    • Asset preservation for improved execution
    • Defence & Legal management of cases
  • Assist chartering with developing new business by supporting in early stages research.
  • Ability to manage specific requirements of voyage execution vs time charter arbitrage.
  • Strengthening trade sustainability and improving on execution
  • To perform analytical deep dives into past performance of trade, vessels and port turn arounds for further improvements.
  • Managing fleet issues ATDNSHINC – understanding and explicitly accepting this requirement of shipping.
  • Maintaining trade overview and suggest improvements to trade execution.
  • Constantly drive initiatives to build competence of trade and experience.


Qualifications and experience:

  • Required:
    • Relevant education at college/university level, relevant commercial operational experience (4+yrs) from a dry bulk operator model.
    • Nautical background from sea is advantageous but not mandatory.
    • Continent/Med & Atlantic dry bulk voyages experience – incl. Grain & Bauxite
  • Additional advantageous skills and experience:
    • Tricky hold cleaning conversions experience & chemical application knowledge.
    • Extensive legal and dispute management including debt recovery.
    • Specific trade/port mastery to assist with improved execution.
    • Strong IT skills and high acumen for digital initiatives.
